Film Screening “Animals in War” in Heidelberg

Cinema poster for the film "Animals in War"

On Monday, May 4 at 5:30 p.m., we are pleased to present the film in its original language with English subtitles in Lecture Hall 6 of the Neue Universität building.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Department of History at Heidelberg University for their kind support!

In Kyiv, we had the chance to meet one of the producers, Oleksiy Makukhin.

On May 4, Mr. Makukhin and the co-producer also responsible for Creation, Oleg Kokhan, will come to Heidelberg and, on the occasion of the screening, will give a brief personal introduction to the film.

The episodic film “Animals in War” is based on true stories of people and animals affected by the war in Ukraine—including a rabbit, a wolf, a cow, and a goat. It depicts the catastrophe caused by the war, sometimes directly from the perspective of the animals. The film’s message conveys humanity, humor, and the determination not to be defeated.

The film was created in collaboration with Ukrainian and international artists, including Hollywood actor, director, and producer Sean Penn, who, for the first time in the history of Ukrainian cinema, became part of a domestic film.

We would be delighted to welcome you to Heidelberg next Monday. Admission is free—we would, of course, appreciate donations in support of Pickup4Ukraine.
